OBJE Works to Capitalize on Grand Theft Auto V's Billion-Dollar Success

SARASOTA, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The unprecedented success of Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto V proved last week that the global market for video games is stronger than ever, and OBJ Enterprises (OTCBB: OBJE) has big plans to capitalize.

By GTA publisher Take-Two Interactive Software's (NAS: TTWO) estimate, the hotly anticipated new game made an incredible $800 million on the first day of its release—a record-shattering number in the gaming industry. The console game surpassed $1 billion in sales after only three days. GTA V is now on pace to earn more than Hollywood block-busters The Dark Knight and Avatar combined.

"The phenomenal sales of GTA have shown that consumers are willing to spend serious money on games," said OBJE CEO Paul Watson. "What's interesting is that the game has been released in the dying days of the current console generation. OBJE and our partners are working with new technologies now that could put similarly rich, immersive gaming experiences right on your handheld device."

OBJE is already investing in the future of gaming by building a robust portfolio of mobile applications. The company is looking to make an acquisition or series of acquisitions of emerging game development companies with a library of assets that can help OBJE more effectively leverage technologies such as cloud computing, discrete product placement and micro-transactions to capitalize on the explosion in smartphone and tablet usage across the globe.

Obscene Interactive, OBJE's gaming division, is working to deliver a wide range of innovative gaming products for the Apple (NAS: AAPL) App Store and Google (NAS: GOOG) Play platforms alongside companies such as Electronic Arts (NYS: EA) .
