Boeing Wins $76 Million in Defense Contracts to Upgrade Navy F-18s
The Department of Defense announced a staggering 51 new contracts Monday, the most contracts it's awarded on any single day, at any time this year. And of these 51 contracts, Boeing won three:
$38.2 million: a fixed-price, incentive-fee delivery order to supply retrofit kits needed to make "trailing edge flap" engineering changes to the wings of U.S. Navy F/A-18E/F fighter-bombers and EA-18G electronic warfare aircraft. Forty-eight trailing edge flap redesign kits, 48 left hand units, and 48 right hand units, will be supplied by July 2017.
$24.6 million: a firm-fixed-price delivery order to supply "B kits," bulk data cartridge units, and mass storage units for installation in Navy F/A-18-E/F fighter-bombers as part of a Distributed Targeting System engineering change proposal. Work on this contract should be completed by August 2015.
And finally, $12.9 million: a firm-fixed-price delivery order to supply 114 advanced navigation system retrofit kits for Navy F/A-18E/F fighter-bombers by May 2017.
