Leading Turner TV Channels Adopt Adobe's Primetime Platform; Online Viewing of Premium TV Content Increased by 400 Percent Year-Over-Year

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Adobe (NAS: ADBE) today announced Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. (TBS, Inc.) as the latest customer of Adobe® Primetime, the industry's most advanced TV publishing and monetization platform for programmers and pay-TV service providers. TBS, Inc., a leader in driving TV Everywhere adoption, uses Adobe Primetime to power its new TNT and TBS apps and websites to offer seamless, TV-like content experiences across screens. Cartoon Network, truTV, NBA League Pass, AdultSwim and others will leverage Adobe Primetime in the near future. Adobe also announced that viewing premium TV content online grew by 400 percent year-over-year, a new record.

As part of the Adobe Primetime solution, Turner is using the Adobe Primetime Player and its dynamic ad insertion technology to deliver and monetize its live video streams across iOS and Android devices. Turner's network audiences are able to easily access this premium pay-TV content across devices using Adobe's Emmy award-winning Primetime PayTV Pass, TV Everywhere authentication technology that TBS, Inc helped to develop. A single sign-on enables viewers to access Turner content across apps and devices without having to log in and authenticate repeatedly. TBS, Inc is also using Adobe Primetime DRM to protect premium video content online.

"Turner is one of the largest and most innovative content providers in the world and we are thrilled to expand our partnership to help bring the breadth of their premium TV channels to consumers across all major platforms," said Jeremy Helfand, vice president, Video Solutions, Adobe. "We are at the beginning of an exciting industry transformation and are working with the TV industry to provide viewers with the experience they want, and content owners and distributors with the ability to build a business around true TV Everywhere."

"Delivering seamless, high quality television experiences across the ever increasing consumer device landscape is of paramount importance for TV Everywhere to continue to succeed. Adobe continues to be a great partner of Turner's in making that a reality," said Mike Wise, vice president, multi-platform distribution technologies for TBS, Inc.

Strong Momentum for TV Everywhere

The popularity of consuming broadcast TV online continues to grow dramatically. Adobe Digital Index has seen the number of authenticated streams increase by 400% in the first six months of the year compared to the same period in 2012. The average number of unique visitors to sites with online TV content grew nearly seven fold in the first six months of the year compared to same period in 2012. In addition, Primetime's authentication technology is now used by more than 50 TV channels powering more than 100 apps and web sites across all major device platforms including iOS, Android, Windows 8, Xbox, Roku, Apple TV and SmartTVs. Customers of Adobe Primetime authentication technology include Disney, TBS, Inc., Viacom, Fox, NBCU, Scripps, A&E and others.

About Adobe Primetime

Adobe Primetime enables programmers and pay TV service providers to capitalize on the rising consumer interest in watching TV across IP-connected screens. The platform tightly integrates Adobe's video publishing, player, DRM, advertising and analytics solutions to help eliminate the complexity of reaching audiences across devices. The results are greater revenue from ad sales and subscriptions, lower operating costs, and audiences that are more engaged. Adobe Primetime's interoperable components can be deployed individually to fit specific infrastructure needs, or deployed as an end-to-end solution to handle the entire broadcast-to-IP workflow. Customers of Adobe Primetime include Comcast, NBC Sports, and RTL Group's M6. Additional TV programmers and distributors are expected to come online later this year.
