Pump Prices Down Across the Nation

Americans are paying less at the gas pump this week, according to an Energy Information Administration report released today.

The national average price for regular gasoline clocked in at $3.495 per gallon today, down $0.052 from a week ago and $0.331 below the same time last year. While the Rocky Mountain region managed just a $0.026 dip, the East Coast dropped a full $0.074 per gallon.

Diesel prices followed gasoline's lead, with a $0.025 decrease over the past week to $3.949 per gallon. This latest price tag puts diesel $0.137 per gallon cheaper than the same time last year. Midwest prices dropped the most ($0.028), while the Rocky Mountain region registered the only fuel increase of any region, with a slight $0.002 edge upwards.

At these latest prices, the West Coast pays the prettiest penny for gasoline ($3.866) and diesel ($4.111), while the Gulf Coast can guzzle gas for just $3.231 and diesel for $3.862 per gallon.
