Norfolk Southern Replaces CFO

Norfolk Southern will soon have a new executive heading its finance team. The company announced that Marta Stewart has been named CFO and executive vice president, in place of the retiring John Rathbone. The appointment is effective November 1.

Stewart is a longtime employee of the company, having joined it in 1983. She was named vice president and controller in 2003, then treasurer in 2009.

The man she replaces, Rathbone, is a 32-year veteran of the firm, dating back to the days of its predecessor Norfolk & Western Railway. He has served in a number of executive positions, including controller and executive vice president administration. He was tapped to be CFO in 2012.
