Pre-Employment Screening Program Receives Honor for Outstanding Website

The successful program is the only federal application recognized in the Driving Digital Government for Business category of the Digital Government Achievement Awards

WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's Pre-Employment Screening Program (PSP) earned an honorable mention in the 2013 Digital Government Achievement Awards (DGAA), the Center for Digital Government has announced. PSP was selected to receive an honorable mention for the Driving Digital Government for Business award category. The awards recognize outstanding government websites and projects based on innovation, functionality, productivity and performance. The Pre-Employment Screening Program was the only federal application recognized in this category. The program offers commercial drivers and hiring companies access to critical driver safety history information as part of the pre-employment screening process. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) partners with NIC Technologies for all aspects of service development and delivery.

"We are so pleased that PSP has been recognized in the 2013 Digital Government Achievement Awards," noted Elizabeth Pemmerl, NIC Technologies General Manager. "PSP is a success story for FMCSA and NIC - but most importantly, it's helping companies ensure they are hiring the safest drivers for large trucks and buses."

The PSP online application program was developed and is managed through a unique no-cost contract. NIC, as FMCSA's PSP contractor, performs all work, including program enhancements and mobile development, at no cost to the agency. The contractor is supported by fees paid by companies and drivers that elect to use the PSP system. The PSP web site is available via any major browser at www.psp.fmcsa.dot.gov. In addition to the easy-to-use website, a free mobile application is available in the Apple iTunes store so that users can access PSP on-the-go, and the PSP customer service team is available Monday through Friday via email or toll-free telephone call.
