Pentagon Awards $912 Million in Contracts Thursday

The Department of Defense issued 19 new contracts on Thursday worth a combined $911.7 million. Of these, the largest contract went to privately held Nomad Global Communication Solutions -- a $382.5 million contract to purchase commercial fire and emergency vehicles. No publicly traded companies won anything quite as lucrative, but they weren't left totally out in the cold, either:

  • Government contractor CACI won a $74.8 million contract modification to provide medical logistics and "non-personal services support" to the U.S. Air Force's Expeditionary/Contingency Medical Material program at locations within the continental United States.

  • Rolls-Royce Corp won a $48.9 million firm-fixed price contract to activate depots for AE3007H aircraft turbofan engines. Rolls has an expected completion date of 2015 on this contract.

  • Lockheed Martin was awarded a $42.4 million contract modification to begin collecting "non-recurring engineering" and long-lead materials needed to build satellites Nos. 5 and 6 for the space-based infrared systems (SBIRS) missile warning program. This contract runs through June 19, 2016.

  • SAIC won a $35.8 million cost-plus-incentive-fee contract to perform software engineering, hardware, integration, technical support, and training for the Integrated Strategic Planning and Analysis Network through Sept. 30, 2018.

  • And finally, Air Methods won a $9.3 million firm-fixed-price, non-option-eligible, non-multiyear contract to supply the U.S. Army with 61 Interim Medical Evacuation Mission Support System kits.
