Former Chicago Cubs Pitcher Kerry Wood and Leading Education Activists Join 'One America' Volunteer Tour in Chicago
Panel tackles how to keep kids motivated and eager to learn, while keeping them safe; Kerry Wood to receive Daily Point of Light award
CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Points of Light, the world's largest organization dedicated to volunteer service, and JPMorgan Chase will bring the national volunteer service tour 'One America' to Chicago on September 24. The tour stop will feature some of the city's leading education activists, including Kerry Wood of the Wood Family Foundation, Diane Latiker of Kids Off the Block and Imran Khan of Embarc to discuss expanding high quality education opportunities to all Chicago youth. Immediately after the discussion, volunteers will assemble resource kits for public school teachers.
WHAT: | A discussion on how the Chicago community can work together to equip the city's youth with the resources and support they need to succeed in school and in life. The Daily Point of Light award will be presented to Kerry Wood for his and his wife Sarah's commitment to helping improve the lives of children in and around Chicago through the Wood Family Foundation. | |
