McDonald's Raising Dividend 5%

It's a better present than a free toy in a Happy Meal. McDonald's has bumped its dividend, declaring a quarterly common stock distribution of $0.81 per share. This will be dispensed on Dec. 16 to shareholders of record as of Dec. 2. That amount is $0.04, or 5%, higher than each of the fast food giant's preceding four payouts of $0.77 per share.

In the press release announcing the news, the company pointed out that it has raised its dividend every year since first paying a distribution in 1976.

The new dividend annualizes to $3.24 per share. That yields 3.3% at McDonald's most recent closing stock price of $98.70.
