Kentrox Announces Communications Management Solution

Improving comprehensive site management capabilities

COLUMBUS, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Kentrox®, Inc., an innovator of intelligent site monitoring, management, and control solutions, announces immediate availability of the communications management solution for enhanced site management. Subscribers are demanding reliable wireless coverage from virtually anywhere, but communications quality is often reduced in high usage/high demand areas. Understanding whether systems are running effectively and efficiently is critical.

The Kentrox communications management solution provides the applications needed to help service providers and tower operators manage their communications network without a site visit and provide proactive warnings when issues may occur. The applications use the Optima Management System® and the Remote suite of products to monitor the sites by providing the following:

  • Distributed antenna systems (DAS) management: collects alarms and key performance indicators (KPIs) to verify the operational status of DAS components

  • Microwave management: constantly monitors microwave systems including equipment performance, health, communications, and transmissions

Each packaged solution includes the information, reports, measurements, network elements, alarms, and sensors/controllers that are needed for each application. Optima Live View shows the per site status overview of the specific application's alarms and KPIs. It provides auto-refresh and single click links to predefined reports, alarms, analysis, and controls. The standardized reports are context sensitive and provide a one click zoom to the selected alarms or KPIs to better understand site and equipment status.

"Continuous and quality wireless coverage has become expected by wireless subscribers today, and understanding the communications network, without a site visit, is a tower operator and service provider's challenge," states Eric Swanson, Westell Director of Product Management. "The communications management solution provides cost-effective and proactive monitoring and management of DAS and microwave systems remotely. The reporting and trending capabilities help maximize site efficiency while improving network reliability and efficiency."
