FirstEnergy Keeps Dividend Steady

FirstEnergy is leaving its shareholder payout light on. The company has declared its latest quarterly common stock dividend, which is to be $0.55 per share paid on December 1 to shareholders of record as of November 7. That amount matches all of the firm's previous distributions stretching back to June 2011.

Typically for a utility operator, FirstEnergy regularly pays dividends. It has done so consistently in its present form, which follows the closing of its merger with regional peer Allegheny Energy in February 2011.

The just-declared dividend annualizes to $2.20 per share. That yields 5.8% at FirstEnergy's most recent closing stock price of $37.74.
