Axcelis Gets a New CFO

Semiconductor industry specialist Axcelis has a new bean counter.

The Beverly, Mass.-based tech firm announced today that Kevin J. Brewer has taken on the roles of executive VP of CFO, effective immediately. He has served as interim CFO since July, after the former CFO Jay Zager retired.

Rowland, 53, has 30 years of experience working at global high-tech firms and joined Axcelis in 1999. Before taking on the interim CFO role, he managed the company's global facilities and IT.

Noting the smooth transition that occurred in the CFO position, Axcelis Chairman and CEO Mary G. Puma said, "The breadth and depth of Kevin's experience, and his intimate knowledge of the implant business and Axcelis operations, makes him the ideal candidate to manage our financial organization and execute the next phase of our strategic objectives."

The Massachusetts tech company is a worldwide producer of ion implantation, dry strip, and processing equipment used in the fabrication of semiconductor chips in the U.S., Europe, and Asia.
