Assurant Solutions Partners With Bluegrass Cellular to Launch Pocket Geek, an Innovative Mobile Device Self-Help System

ATLANTA & ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Assurant Solutions, a global leader in mobile device protection, and Kentucky-based wireless carrier Bluegrass Cellular today announce the release of Pocket Geek, an innovative mobile self-help app designed to help Bluegrass Cellular customers anticipate, diagnose and solve technical problems with their own mobile devices.

Pocket Geek can be downloaded free of charge to a Bluegrass Cellular mobile device where it runs in the background and supplies diagnostic information. When Pocket Geek identifies a potential problem, it alerts the user and, when possible, offers do-it-yourself solutions to prevent or fix the problem.

"We are pleased to partner with Assurant Solutions to offer Pocket Geek to our customers," said Barry Nothstine, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Bluegrass Cellular. "Our customers rely on their mobile devices every day to stay connected with their communities. With Pocket Geek, our customers can now access helpful hints and alerts that help them monitor the health of their devices. We believe Pocket Geek will help shorten the learning curve given today's sophisticated technology and help people get the most out of their devices."

In addition to diagnostic tools, Pocket Geek also provides technical support and a library of how-to scenarios that helps users learn more about the intricacies of their devices. If more personal help becomes necessary, Bluegrass Cellular customers can simply tap the screen to access a live agent for extra help.

"Bluegrass Cellular has a reputation as a pioneer, so it's fitting that they are the first to bring this innovative tech-support tool to their customers," said Manny Becerra, president of Assurant Solutions Mobile Services. "Our research shows that consumers want more control over their mobile devices and cite self-help as their first choice when trying to resolve device issues. Pocket Geek makes self-diagnosis and resolution a much more viable possibility, which in turn, can help reduce the instance of unnecessary return shipments."

Pocket Geek was developed by Assurant Solutions in partnership with Mobile Defense, a leading provider of enterprise-grade mobile services.
