What Apple Didn't Say This Week

Perhaps as interesting as what Apple unveiled at its iPhone event this week is what the Mac maker didn't say. There was no news about new Macs, new Apple TVs, or any indication of a possible mobile-payments service. More importantly, the expected partnership with China Mobile didn't materialize. The largest carrier in the world is still putting the finishing touches on its TD-LTE network, so the Mac maker could be waiting to make everything official.

Apple also continues to shun near-field communications, or NFC. Google embraced the technology years ago for a mobile-payments service, and many Android OEMs have adopted the technology. There were some recent hints that Apple was potentially thinking about using NFC, but to no avail.
