IHS Named to the 2013 Dow Jones SustainabilityNorth America Index

ENGLEWOOD, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- IHS Inc. (NYS: IHS) , the leading global source of information and analytics, today announced it has been named to the 2013 Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index for the first time.

"In a turbulent and very diverse global business environment, our focus on Corporate Sustainability is positioning IHS for long-term success," said Scott Key, IHS president and chief executive officer. "Inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index is one of the ways we measure the progress of our company's Corporate Sustainability efforts. I am incredibly proud of my colleagues for their hard work and dedication in helping to reach this milestone."

IHS improved its ranking to the 79th percentile in its peer group, an increase of 16 points over 2012, with significant performance in several key categories, including its labor practices, the environment, citizenship and its focus on customers. This score puts IHS 18 points ahead of the average score for companies in the Professional services industry, against whom IHS is compared. IHS scored in the 100th percentile in the customer relationship management category and rated higher than all its peers with best in class performance. "At IHS, Corporate Sustainability is not a special project; it's a core element of our business model and critical to our future performance," Key said. "Sustainability is embedded into every aspect of our culture and operations. This discipline helps us to drive innovation and will continue to drive our long-term success."

In addition to its own internal sustainability efforts, IHS uniquely leads the industry in helping clients develop and implement unified strategies to achieve their vision for Enterprise Sustainability Management (ESM), including Environment, Health and Safety, Operational Risk, GHG and Energy Management, Product Stewardship and Corporate Responsibility.

"The Dow Jones Sustainability Index is one of the most recognized sustainability performance rating tools and our inclusion in 2013 is evidence of our progress and commitment to Corporate Sustainability," added Jane Okun Bomba, IHS senior vice president and chief sustainability officer. "This year's performance would have been impossible without the significant community efforts of IHS colleagues around the world."

The Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes were launched in 1999 as the first global sustainability benchmarks to track the stock performance of the world's leading companies in terms of economic, environmental and social criteria.
