JetBlue Releases August Metrics

JetBlue saw the summer out in style. The company has released its key operating metrics for August, and they're generally higher on a year-over-year basis. Revenue passenger miles grew by 6.2% in that time frame to reach almost 3.5 billion. Available seat miles came in at slightly more than 4 billion, which was 7.2% higher than the August 2012 figure. The total number of revenue passengers advanced at a 4.8% clip to 2.9 million.

One metric that was down compared to the year-ago period was load factor (i.e., the average "occupancy" of the company's planes). For JetBlue, this was 86.8% last month, a decline of 0.8 percentage points from the 87.6% of August 2012.
