Health Net Sponsors Annual Navy-Air Force Races

Proceeds to benefit the overall well-being of active duty service members and their families

ARLINGTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Health Net Federal Services, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Health Net, Inc. (NYS: HNT) , today announced its sponsorship of the 10th Annual Navy 5 Miler and the 2nd Annual Navy-Air Force Half Marathon. The races are scheduled to be held on Sept. 14, 2013, at 7:30 a.m. Eastern time, and will start and finish at the grounds of the Washington Monument in Washington, D.C. Both races are open to military and civilian runners.

"Health Net Federal Services is honored to support the Navy 5 Miler and the Navy-Air Force Half Marathon which align with our mission to promote the overall health and well-being of those who serve and their families," said Tom Carrato, president, Health Net Federal Services.

The race expo, scheduled to be held Sept. 12-13, at the Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling Club will feature clothing, shoes, running accessories and health-related booths. In an effort to increase awareness for breast cancer screenings among military members and their families, Health Net Federal Services developed a unique camouflage pink pin that will be distributed at the Health Net booth to the first 500 visitors. The special pin symbolizes the united front in the fight against breast cancer.

All proceeds from the Navy 5 Miler and the Navy-Air Force Half Marathon will support the Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR). The mission of the MWR is to provide quality support and recreational services that contribute to the retention, readiness, mental, physical and emotional well-being of active duty personnel and U.S. Department of Defense employees.
