TRADE NEWS: Agilent Technologies Announces Waveform Creator, Modular Software for Easy Development of Baseband and Vector Signals

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYS: A) today introduced the M9099 Waveform Creator, a modular software application that supports analog and digital modulation formats, for the Agilent M9381A PXIe Vector Signal Generator.

The new software provides a simple, open and expandable environment that increases productivity and speeds time to deployment through superior connectivity with design and modelling software.

The trend in electronics toward higher data rates and wider bandwidths means designers must create complex signals to verify their design and measure how the device performs in real-world situations. The difficulty of creating testing environments for thorough evaluation is becoming exponentially more challenging for everything from proprietary radar systems to complex commercial multi-channel, multi-emitter communication systems.

Typically the assembly of such waveforms requires designers to aggregate multiple tools and waveform formats, leaving the user with the task of waveform timing alignment, resampling to different carrier frequencies and sample rates, and waveform validation.

M9099 Waveform Creator is the latest addition to Agilent's growing lineup of modular PXI and AXIe products. It was specifically designed to support customers who need to create and manage the assembly of custom waveforms for developing and testing defense electronics, military radios, and next-generation wireless communication devices.

Agilent's SystemVue software (a focused design automation environment for electronic system-level design) and its 89600 VSA software(a comprehensive set of tools for signal demodulation and vector signal analysis) work together in the M9099 Waveform Creator environment.

"Agilent Waveform Creator provides a superior framework for creating custom baseband and modulated RF waveforms while allowing our customers to preserve their investment through a simple drag-and-drop interface that supports importing waveforms from other tools, such as Agilent's SystemVue," said Mario Narduzzi, modular solutions marketing manager for Agilent. "It pays for itself by saving time and effort to create and manage complex waveform stimulus used in R&D, design validation, and manufacturing test."

Waveform Creator can create individual segments using available waveform plug-ins or user-created plug-ins. Assembling a signal is a matter of dragging and dropping waveform segments into tracks and modifying the segment attributes with user-definable parameters. Noise, IQ impairments and precorrections can be customized for the aggregated waveform as needed. Finally the signal is downloaded to the M9381A PXI VSG or a waveform file. During each step Waveform Creator automatically recalculates the final waveform and displays the result prior to download.

U.S. Pricing and Availability

Available now, the Agilent M9099 Waveform Creator base configuration sells for $4,200. A free 30-day Waveform Creator trial license is available for download at www.agilent.com/find/M9099.

  • Licenses are sold as perpetual and transportable, which enables rehosting of licenses on different Microsoft Windows-based computers, making it possible to upgrade the PC or embedded PXI controller at any time.

  • Input waveform plug-ins for the first release include digitally modulated signals (complementing Agilent's 89600 VSA) and importing SystemVue-created waveforms.

  • Output plug-ins are provided for the M9381A PXI VSG and optional unencrypted data file writing.

The Agilent Premium Support Program starts at $630 per year for the Waveform Creator core base configuration. This provides customers with unlimited product upgrades, access to live product-support specialists for fast product installation and operation support, and access to the Waveform Creator online Knowledge Center with a wealth of product resources, including application support articles, example waveforms, videos and tutorials.
