Recurly to Power Billing for DISH Digital

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Recurly, Inc. announced a deal today to enable DISH Digital, a subsidiary of DISH Network (NAS: DISH) and Echostar Corporation (NAS: SATS) with Recurly's automated recurring billing service. DISH Digital includes DishWorld, the IPTV international programming provider in the U.S. with 174 channels across 15 languages, and the Blockbuster On Demand digital movie service.

Through its partnership with Recurly, DISH Digital dramatically expands its ability to quickly and cost-effectively offer multiple programming packages and promotional offers. Recurly is now automating pricing and management processes allowing DISH Digital to save time and resources.

"Recurly's service allows us to explore our over-the-top product in ways we couldn't previously," said Geoff Campbell, vice president of online strategy for DISH Digital. "We were able to quickly implement a new promotion to offer a free 48-hour preview of DishWorld, opening the world of OTT to consumers who had not tried it before, and who can't receive traditional satellite TV. All the way up to converting those neophytes into monthly or annual pricing for the foreign-language programming package that fits their needs."

Recurly is now automating pricing and management processes allowing DISH Digital to save time and resources.

"Media distribution is radically evolving and there's a tremendous opportunity for innovative companies such as DISH Digital to monetize offerings in a whole new way," said Dan Burkhart, CEO and co-founder of Recurly, Inc. "Consumers are demanding content the way they want it, when they want it and at a reasonable price. DISH Digital sees the opportunity to provide highly focused content with a seamless payment infrastructure. Its customers don't have to think about how the purchase is made. They simply assemble their desired programming and the billing automatically reflects their decisions."

Recurly's subscription billing platform is designed to support recurring billing, metered billing for incremental consumption such as pay-per-view experiences, and easy periodic one-time purchases. Recurly allows innovative companies to easily create a customized virtual catalog of offerings and quickly adapt these products as customer expectations and delivery models evolve.
