Herbalife Hires Former LA Mayor as Advisor

A high-profile politician has joined the executive team at Herbalife . The company announced it hired ex-Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa as senior advisor to both CEO Michael Johnson and the board of directors. In the press release heralding the news, Herbalife said that its new employee "will provide counsel on strategic business development and global community outreach."

Villaraigosa, a Democrat, served the maximum two terms as the big California city's mayor, holding the office from 2005, to earlier this year. He was also national co-chairman of Hillary Clinton's 2012 presidential campaign, and chairman of that year's Democratic National Convention.

Herbalife was founded in Los Angeles, and still has its corporate headquarters there.
