Monster Poll Reveals Motivating Power of a Vacation to Start a Job Search
MAYNARD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- A U.S. poll conducted by Monster.com, the worldwide leader in successfully connecting people to job opportunities and flagship brand of Monster Worldwide, Inc. (NYS: MWW) , reveals that almost 70% of respondents are more likely to look for another job upon returning from vacation.
"Vacations are a great time for self assessment. They offer free time, relaxation and detachment from your day-to-day routine," said Mary Ellen Slayter, Career Advice Expert for Monster.com. "These factors can significantly improve your ability to diagnose a persisting personal obstacle; they also provide the mental clarity needed to carefully consider the life changes required to remedy the source of your strife. Additionally, as your vacation comes to a close and you are faced with your impending return to work, your disposition can be an important indicator that it's time to make a change. It's natural to sulk a bit at the end of an enjoyable holiday, but oppressive feelings of dread and anxiety should be cause for concern. Returning after a vacation can be hectic and distracting, but don't allow yourself to forget what you've discovered during your time off."
Monster asked the following question to U.S. visitors on its site, "Upon returning from holiday, are you more or less likely to look for another job?" The poll received over 1,200 responses.
The results of the current Monster Poll are based on votes cast by visitors on the U.S. Monster homepage and social media channels from: July 15 -August 5, 2013.
