Regions Bank Provides Financial Readiness Tools to Help Customers and Communities During National Preparedness Month

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- In support of National Preparedness Month, Regions Financial (NYS: RF) is helping customers and communities take action and be prepared for emergencies and disasters. Throughout September, Regions will offer financial preparedness tools and tips and provide a platform for bank associates and customers to share their stories about emergency preparedness.

"The importance of being prepared truly does hit home for all of us at Regions," said Steve McCleskey, vice president, business continuity and incident response for Regions Financial. "We've seen time and again the impact that disasters and emergencies have on our families and friends, our customers, our coworkers and our communities. However, we also know that when people do some simple things, such as creating a disaster plan and establishing an emergency fund, they are much more likely to weather any kind of storm and to recover more quickly. That's why this September we are encouraging everyone to do their part by preparing for the unexpected."

To help customers and communities better prepare for emergencies, Regions provides extensive preparedness planning tools through its Disaster Resource Center located on regions.com. Throughout the month of September, Regions associates and customers will also share their personal experiences with emergencies and disasters through stories and videos posted on the site and shared through the company's Facebook page and Twitter handle @askRegions. Regions invites customers to spread the word during National Preparedness Month by visiting the Regions Facebook page and posting their own stories about how emergency preparedness hits home and how people can take action to be prepared.

The company's month-long preparedness initiative kicks off today from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. CDT with the Regions Readiness Rally and expo at its Birmingham, Ala., headquarters. The event is open to the public and provides a forum for community organizations to share information about preparedness. Regions customers and the general public are invited to attend the free event and will have the opportunity to record a video sharing how emergency preparedness hits home.

Now in its ninth year, National Preparedness Month is a nationwide, month-long effort hosted by the Ready Campaign and Citizen Corps, encouraging households, businesses and communities to prepare and plan for emergencies.
