Verizon Wireless Recognized as the Network Quality Leader in New England in Latest J.D. Power Study

WHO: Verizon Wireless, operator of the nation's largest 4G LTE network and largest, most reliable 3G network


WHAT: Verizon Wireless ranked highest among all other national wireless providers in the Northeast, including New England states Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont, and in the five other regions covering the rest of the continental U.S., in the J.D. Power 2013 Wireless Network Quality Performance StudySM, Volume 2, issued Aug. 29.

This is the 18th consecutive reporting period that Verizon Wireless ranks highest in the Northeast Region.

The J.D. Power study measured network quality among U.S. wireless service providers. More than 26,000 wireless subscribers were surveyed by J.D. Power from January through June 2013 about their experiences with wireless voice, text messaging and data usage. Based on their responses, Verizon Wireless ranked highest among national wireless companies in all six regions, including the Northeast, and tied in the North Central region.

WHERE: In six regions covering the U.S., including New England, encompassing the states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.

BACKGROUND: The Verizon 4G LTE network is now available to nearly 301 million people in more than 500 markets across the United States, representing more than 99 percent of the company's 3G footprint.

Since December 2010, when Verizon Wireless launched its 4G LTE network in the Metro Boston area, the company has aggressively expanded its 4G LTE footprint throughout the six states in New England.

In 2013, Verizon Wireless added 4G LTE coverage to numerous cell sites within New England, providing customers with speeds up to ten times faster than 3G networks. Recent enhancements to Verizon Wireless' Network include:

Verizon Wireless' roll out of its 4G LTE (Long Term Evolution) network across New England is now substantially complete.
