Pentagon Awards $766 Million in Contracts Thursday
Thursday was a busy day at the U.S. Department of Defense, as the Pentagon announced no fewer than 27 separate contract awards worth a total of $766 million. Among the publicly traded companies winning contracts:
Gentex Corp. won a contract worth up to $86.8 million to supply the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps with lightweight, advanced combat helmets through Aug. 30, 2016.
United Technologies subsidiary Sikorsky was awarded a $25.6 million contract modification hiring it to overhaul 250 Army UH-60 Blackhawk main rotor blades.
Philips Healthcare, a subsidiary of Koninklijke Philips N.V.
, won a $17.1 million contract modification tasking it with maintaining biomedical equipment at various Air Force and Army military treatment facilities.Johnson & Johnson was awarded the third (out of seven possible) option-year exercise on a contract to supply various medical and surgical products to the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and federal civilian agencies. This contract is worth $9.6 million to J&J, and now runs through Aug. 30, 2014.
Raytheon won a $7.4 million option exercise on a contract to supply the U.S. Air Force with additional Lot 13 AIM-9X Sidewinder missiles. This contract is due to be completed by August 2015.
