HomeServe Offers South Jersey Energy Service Plus Customers a New High Efficiency Water Heater Replacement Service Program

STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- HomeServe USA (HomeServe) today announced that it has been approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star Program to use the Energy Star Learn More mark that recognizes the company for its efforts to promote and educate homeowners on the benefits of energy efficiency and conservation. HomeServe USA provides home emergency repair service plans to more than 1.3 million homeowners across the country through its own brand and in partnership with local utilities. Its plans offer affordable protection against water, plumbing and gas line repairs, and HVAC service that when left unattended, can result in wasted energy and water resources.

To promote energy efficiency, HomeServe's Service Delivery personnel perform thousands of heating and air conditioning system tune-ups each year, saving customers money and assuring customer systems are running as effectively as possible. HomeServe also works with its partners, many of whom are Energy Star Partners, in their efforts to promote efficient use of energy. This month, HomeServe launched with South Jersey Energy Service Plus (SJESP), a water heater repair and high efficiency replacement service plan. This pilot program provides customers in South Jersey with a protection plan to service or replace an existing un-repairable water heater with a new Energy Star qualified unit. Since heating water accounts for approximately 15% of a typical home's energy use and with new high-efficiency water heaters using 10%-50% less energy than standard models1, homeowners can potentially save thousands of dollars in energy costs over the equipment's lifetime.

"As a company, we are committed to preserving natural resources and saving our customers money," said Tom Rusin, CEO of HomeServe USA. "We are pleased to have been recognized by the EPA and look forward to helping more partners' like South Jersey Energy Service Plus with service programs that support utility energy efficiency goals."

HomeServe offers service policies for water, sewer, electrical, HVAC and other home emergencies. Itspolicyholders have access to a Repair Hotline that is accessible 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to bring local, licensed and insured contractors right to their home for repairs. Service policies are available starting at under $5 a month.
