First Solar Hires Ex-Enron Exec

Tempe, Ariz.-based First Solar has hired itself a new chief commercial officer, the company announced this morning.

Responsible for global business development and sales, and international public affairs, and having a primary focus on sustainable growth in emerging markets, new CMO Joe Kishkill is described as having "unparalleled expertise" in these areas. He comes to First Solar after having previously served as president for the Eastern Hemisphere for oilfield services company Exterran and, before that, as chief executive officer for South American operations at Enron.

In a filing with the SEC, First Solar disclosed that it will pay Kishkill an annual base salary of $400,000, plus:

  • An annual bonus targeting 70% of base salary.

  • A signing bonus of $100,000.

  • $450,000 worth of restricted stock, vesting over four years.

  • 125,000 performance units under First Solar's Key Senior Talent Equity Performance Program, or KSTEPP.
