More than 50 Employees to Build, Plant, Harvest, and Maintain Community Gardens

HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Urban Harvest announced that Huron Consulting Group (NAS: HURN) , a leading provider of business consulting services, will plant, harvest, and maintain community gardens throughout Houston tomorrow. More than 50 employees will participate in the project on Wednesday, August 28.

"We are excited to work with Huron and are pleased they have chosen to support our mission ofpromoting healthy communities, sound nutrition and respect for the environment by educating children and adults through the harvest and habitat gardens," said Callie Hastings Easterly, development director, Urban Harvest.

Founded in 1994, Urban Harvest has garnered a well-deserved reputation as a leader in the local food movement. Under the direction of an all-volunteer board, Urban Harvest has grown from humble beginnings to employ a full-time staff and literally thousands of volunteers. Funding comes from nearly 1,500 annual memberships, and from individual and corporate donations, private foundations, and public grants.

"Urban Harvest advocates for access to fresh food for all Houstonians and Huron is proud to support this honorable cause. It is a tremendous opportunity for our employees to bond outside of the office and give back to the community at the same time," said James H. Roth, chief executive officer and president, Huron Consulting Group.

Huron provides time off to participate in philanthropic activities. In addition to the many community service projects Huron participates in throughout the year, Huron also coordinates an annual Companywide day of service where employees receive the day off for philanthropy. As part of the annual day of service in May 2013, Huron employees participated in nearly 50 community service events with more than 40 different organizations worldwide. The Company's ongoing commitment to the community brings employees together by helping others through its Huron Helping Hands program.

The organization teaches how to grow fruits and vegetables, for oneself and for others to share or to sell at local farmers markets.
