Avnet Technology Solutions Expands Distribution Agreement with Cisco into Latin America and the Caribbean
Enables Avnet's channel partners to offer complete data center and converged infrastructure solutions based on Cisco technology
TEMPE, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Avnet Technology Solutions, the global IT solutions distribution leader and operating group of Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT), today announced its selection by Cisco (NAS: CSCO) as a high-value specialty distributor for data center products in Latin America and the Caribbean. This significantly expands upon the existing distribution relationship between Avnet and Cisco in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), and North America. The Latin American and Caribbean agreement with Cisco complements Avnet's engagements in the region with Cisco ecosystem partners EMC, NetApp and VMware. It also enables Avnet to provide channel partners with complete converged infrastructure solutions for data centers.

Under this agreement, Avnet will provide independent software vendor (ISV), system integrator (SI), and value-added reseller (VAR) partners with Cisco's data center technology. Avnet partners can also access Cisco's full product portfolio to offer their customers comprehensive solutions. The Cisco data center technology available through Avnet includes:
Nexus Data Center Family of Switches
MDS Family of Fiber Channel SAN Switches
Unified Computing System (UCS) Blade and Rack Servers (B and C)
Additionally, channel partners will be able to utilize Avnet's services to deliver pre-configured solutions with three levels of integration, including fully assembled and tested, remote base performance (BP) connection, and ready virtual machine. These solutions will be developed at the world-class Avnet Global Solutions Center, which has earned Cisco Unified Computing System B-Series Authorized Configurator (UBAC) and Cisco Unified Computing System C-Series Authorized Configurator (UCAC) certifications. These solutions can then be sent to customers' sites on behalf of channel partners via certified shipping.

Avnet's Cisco partners in Latin America and the Caribbean will be supported by the distributor's recently formed Converged and Data Solutions group. This group supports technology suppliers that are leading the market with converged solutions, including Cisco, EMC, NetApp and VMware. It provides partners with assistance related to business consulting, technical pre-sales assistance and business development. Additionally, Avnet will support its channel community with demand generation; technical expertise; training and development; and financial and logistics services.
