Tesla Motors' Model S recently received an unprecedented safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, outperforming every sedan, SUV, and minivan ever sold in the United States. This outcome naturally prompts a new discussion: Are electric cars, in general, safer? Or is this all a result of Tesla's operational feats?
