Pentagon Awards $1.34 Billion in Contracts Friday
Ending the week in a flurry of paperwork, the U.S. Department of Defense announced 14 separate contract awards Friday, worth approximately $1.34 billion in total. Defense heavyweight Boeing took the big prize -- a $904 million deal to sell Apache attack helicopters to South Korea. But it wasn't the only winner to close out the week.
Honeywell won a sizable $97.5 million option-year exercise on its preexisting contract to perform equipment prepositioning and Marine Corps logistics support services for the USMC's Blount Island Command in Florida. This contract will extend Honeywell's contract with the corps through Sept. 30, 2014.
Harris was awarded a $27.3 million contract modification to perform retrofits at the Space and Missile Systems Center's Space Control Depot Support Facility as part of Counter Communication Systems Block 10 Increment 2. This contract should be completed by Oct. 17, 2016.
Science Applications International, better known as SAIC , won a not-to-exceed $10 million fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to supply the Naval Air Warfare Center's Aircraft Division with various test sets and related weapons control support equipment components -- cables, adapters, and interfaces. SAIC should complete delivery by August 2014.
