Volunteer Expo Celebrates Its Third Year in Fountain Square
Free event hosted by The Standard connects local nonprofits with volunteers and supporters
CINCINNATI--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- On Thursday, September 12, 2013, The Standard's Volunteer Expo returns to Fountain Square for the third year in a row. This unique event brings more than 40 nonprofits together so that attendees can find service and donation opportunities that match their skills and interests - ranging from one-time projects to longer-term commitments.
The Standard's 2013 Volunteer Expo will be one of the largest volunteer expos in Ohio. To accommodate the growing interest from nonprofits and the public, this special event at Cincinnati's Fountain Square is free and open to the public.
"Hosting three consecutive years of the Volunteer Expo at Fountain Square has been an incredible experience for The Standard and our employees," said Greg Ness, chairman, president and CEO of The Standard. "Nonprofits have an invaluable impact on our community, and the connections made at this event allow under-funded organizations to provide programs and services that might otherwise have to be reduced or eliminated."
The Volunteer Expo kicks off The Standard's annual Employee Giving Campaign. The Campaign which takes place September 9 - 27 encourages employees of The Standard to support nonprofit organizations of their choosing. The Standard matches those contributions up to $5,000 per employee. Last year, employees rose more than $1.7 million (including The Standard's dollar-for-dollar match), impacting more than 1,100 organizations.
The 2013 Volunteer Expo takes place Thursday, September 12, 2013, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Fountain Square, located at the intersection of Fifth and Vine Streets in downtown Cincinnati. The event is open to the public and free of charge.
