Several Magellan Care Management Centers Earn Accreditation by the National Committee for Quality Assurance

AVON, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Magellan Health Services, Inc. (NAS: MGLN) today announced that the Tristate Care Management Center and California Care Management Center were fully reaccredited by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Managed Behavioral Healthcare Organization (MBHO) Accreditation Review Process. The Midwest Care Management Center also received Full Accreditation status, bringing the total number of NCQA accredited sites to six, including the Iowa, Northeast and Southeast Care Management Centers. The accreditation of these three sites, which is in place for three years, is a nationally recognized evaluation that purchasers, regulators and consumers can use to assess MBHOs.

"This is an important distinction for these Magellan Care Management Centers, and for the people who work at these locations on behalf of our members," said Cheryl Perkins, vice president for commercial operations. "We are proud of the customer service and coordinated care we provide to our members, and are pleased that NCQA has chosen to accredit these sites. We remain focused on continuous quality improvement, and look forward to investing in new ways to better serve our members."

"The MBHO Accreditation of these Care Management Centers is proof that Magellan is an organization that works hard to coordinate care and provide access and good customer support for members," said Margaret E. O'Kane, president of NCQA. "It's a sign that Magellan Health Services and these care management centers are focused on improving the behavioral health of their members."

The National Committee for Quality Assurance MBHO Accreditation standards are developed with input from employers, health plans, state and federal regulators, MBHOs and other experts, and are intended to help organizations achieve the highest level of performance possible, reduce patient risk for untoward outcomes, and create an environment of continuous improvement.
