B/E Aerospace Responds to Allegations of Patent Infringement

WELLINGTON, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- B/E Aerospace (NAS: BEAV) , the world's leading manufacturer of aircraft cabin interior products and the world's leading provider of aerospace fasteners, consumables and logistics services, today announced that late last night the Company learned of a complaint filed by MAG Aerospace Industries, Inc. (MAG), a Zodiac Aerospace company (Paris:ZC), claiming patent infringement of MAG technology by B/E Aerospace in B/E's Aircraft Ecosystems® vacuum toilet. B/E Aerospace firmly believes that there is no infringement of the MAG Aerospace patents. Shipments to Boeing of B/E's modular lavatory systems have begun and will continue.

The B/E Aerospace technology and patent suite have been very carefully developed and the MAG Aerospace relevant patents and technology have been cited by B/E Aerospace in its patent applications with the United States Patent Office. B/E Aerospace has been granted several relevant patents, one of which is patent number 8,291,525, the title of which is "Vacuum Waste System and Method for Using the Same". Notwithstanding the prior MAG art which was cited by B/E Aerospace in its filings with the United States Patent Office, the B/E Aerospace patents have been granted.
