Hawaii Launches Online Elevator Permit Application and Payments Service

The State continues efforts to provide more convenience and efficiencies to citizens and businesses

HONOLULU--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Hawai'i State Department of Labor & Industrial Relations (DLIR) launches a simple, one stop service to submit and pay for installation applications of new elevators, kindred equipment, or personnel hoists at construction sites.

"Making new installation applications and fee payment available online is just the first phase of the Department's efforts towards making all types of elevator permit applications and fee payments available via the web," said DLIR Director Dwight Takamine. "Moving the Elevator Branch services online is part of the Abercrombie Administration's efforts to provide more convenient services to the public and to transform the way government operates."

Applicants can go to http://hiosh.ehawaii.gov/hip to complete the digital form by entering all the necessary information and attach installation plans for review. After completing the payment, the submitter will receive an email containing a copy of the application and a payment receipt.

For more information or questions about the new service, please call (808)-586-9141 or email at dlir.hiosh.elevators@hawaii.gov.

This new online application was developed and will be maintained via the eHawaii.gov program, a largely self-funded public-private partnership between the State of Hawai'i and Hawai'i Information Consortium LLC. This partnership has allowed Hawai'i to deploy award-winning applications such as: Hawaii Electronic Bench Warrants, Statewide Camping Permits, Hawaii Business Express and Online Motor Vehicle Renewals.
