Charles Schwab Named "Best of the Best" for Its Military-Friendly Workplace

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Charles Schwab Corporation has received new recognition for its military-friendly recruiting practices and workplace, as one of the "Best of the Best Top Veteran-Friendly Companies" in the August issue of U.S. Veterans Magazine. This is the second consecutive year that Schwab has received this award.

This recognition follows on the heels of Military Times Edge magazine's naming Schwab to its list of Best for Vets 2013, for the fourth consecutive year and G.I. Jobs magazine naming Schwab to the 2013 Top Military Friendly Employer® list.

"Our view is that military veterans represent some of the best trained and motivated talent anywhere. Service members bring distinctive value to the workplace: devotion to teamwork, discipline, tenacity, and proven leadership—all of which help bring our values to life," said Ryan Kosowsky, managing director of talent acquisition, who oversees Schwab's military recruiting initiative. Kosowsky, who left active service in the U.S. Army as a Major in 2012, has had a 15-year career in the military and today serves in the Arizona Army National Guard in addition to his role at Schwab.

"With many in the military increasingly moving on to new challenges, we want to maintain an ongoing relationship with this community of America's heroes," Kosowsky added. "Our goal is to provide opportunities that support veterans in applying their unique skills and experience, as well as offering them the training needed to ensure a smooth transition and continued professional growth."

U.S. Veterans Magazine polled hundreds of Fortune 1000 companies for the 2013 Best of the Best. The annual review is an evaluation of employers, initiatives, government agencies and educational institutions compiled from market research, independent research, diversity conference participation and survey responses that were performed by the agents and/or affiliates of DiversityComm, publisher of U.S Veterans Magazine. This year, more than 250 companies and institutions participated in the process.
