Emory Healthcare and Alliance Imaging Open New Diagnostic Center in McDonough

ATLANTA & NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Emory Healthcare and Alliance Imaging, a division of Alliance HealthCare Services, Inc. (NAS: AIQ) , are expanding a partnership developed more than seven years ago with the opening of a new diagnostic imaging center in McDonough, Georgia. The center provides imaging services closer to home for patients, while replicating Emory Healthcare's excellence in quality and services.

The Emory Imaging Center at McDonough, located at 249 Jonesboro Road, offers MRI, CT and diagnostic X-ray. Under the partnership, Emory and Alliance Imaging will share the responsibilities of operating the new center. Emory Healthcare provides physician, technical and clinical support for the center, as well as marketing needs. Alliance Imaging provides the market and operational analysis and guidance, management services—including: day-to-day operations leadership, competitive and process improvement support, patient/physician satisfaction—and radiology equipment for the center.

"Because of Alliance's expertise in providing imaging services and developing imaging centers, and Emory's expertise in clinical services, this model allows the patient more convenience combined with high-quality diagnostic equipment by Alliance, and skill by Emory Healthcare faculty and staff," says Dane Peterson, CEO of Emory University Hospital Midtown. "We are hopeful this center will provide a new imaging option for people who live and work in the Southern Crescent."

Emory and Alliance Imaging opened their first outpatient imaging center October 2012 in Buford, Georgia. The services are similar to those in McDonough. Both outlying centers fall under the radiology operations at Emory University Hospital Midtown.

"We are excited to expand our partnership with a world class organization like Emory Healthcare," says Larry C. Buckelew, Chairman of the Board and interim Chief Executive Officer of Alliance HealthCare Services. "This partnership in McDonough, Georgia is an excellent example of the Enhanced Value Proposition that Alliance offers hospitals and healthcare groups as their partner of choice for a broad array of imaging and oncology services."

Both Emory and Alliance Imaging helped design the new 4,000 square foot center, which was built in an existing building. The project cost the two entities approximately $1.4 million for construction and equipment purchases.
