Comcast Launched year three of Internet Essentials with a surprise for 5 families that have recently graduated from Chapman Partnership for Homeless program and are living on their own. Comcast Launched year three of Internet Essentials with a surprise for 5 families that have recently graduated from Chapman Partnership for Homeless program and are living on their own. They all received free netbook computers and one year's worth of Internet Essentials service for free. Comcast Executive Vice President David L Cohen told a group of more than 100 political and civic leaders gathered at the Chapman Partnership in Miami that in the last six months alone, 70,000 new families have signed up for the program. He said the program is now benefitting an estimated 900,000 low-income Americans nationwide, who now have a broadband connection at home. This includes nearly 18,700 families in the South Florida area and nearly 30,000 in the state of Florida.
