Will Motorola's X8 Processor Be Android's Secret Weapon?

Google's Motorola unit recently announced a homegrown processor, dubbed X8, which could have far-reaching implications for the entire smartphone industry.

Thanks to the addition of a low-power processor component, future smartphones that incorporate this technology will have the ability to be in an "always-on" state. For the individual user, it means such devices will be always listening for your next command, ushering the era of touchless user interaction for the Android ecosystem. Additionally, this low-power component is tasked with voice recognition, which will speed up Google Now response times.
