NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- LexisNexis® Legal & Professional, a leading provider of content and technology solutions, announced today the release of version 2.6 of its Juris® accounting and financial management software for mid-sized law firms. The central feature of the new version is an email plugin integrating Microsoft® Outlook® with Juris for easy access to client and matter information and streamlined time entry within Outlook. The announcement comes on the heels of a similar add-in for Microsoft Outlook and Time Matters® practice management software announced in December.

Research supports the notion that legal professionals and timekeepers are significantly reliant on Microsoft Outlook for managing day-to-day activities. According to the ABA's 2013 Law Technology Survey Report, 82 percent of all law firms use Microsoft Outlook for email and 79.8 percent said they also use it for calendaring. In addition, nearly 100 percent of survey respondents in firms ranging from 10 to 100 attorneys use email to manage legal tasks.
Juris® for Microsoft® Outlook® is an add-in that sits unobtrusively on the side of an Outlook window. The add-in automatically brings related client and matter data, and time entry capabilities, into the place where legal professionals work the most. Juris for Microsoft Outlook removes the hassle of toggling between applications saving time and providing relevant matter information.
The update also aims to make it easier to capture billable hours since it serves as a visual reminder to timekeepers as they are communicating with clients. In turn, this helps the timekeeper maintain compliance with the firm's time submission guidelines. More importantly, it allows timekeepers to more completely capture their time and bill accurately for the legal work performed.
Juris for Microsoft Outlook provides the ability to:
Automatically view details on a relevant client or matter record without leaving Outlook.
Search for specific client or matter information from within Outlook.
Enter billable time associated with a client or matter directly into Juris Suite.
The add-in works with both 2007 and 2010 editions of Microsoft Office and requires Juris 2.6 with the Juris Time and Expense module.
