Healthways Selected to Provide Well-Being Services Through State of Georgia Department of Community Health for the State Health Benefit Plan

Services to be Provided to More Than 650,000 State Employees and Dependents

NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Healthways (NAS: HWAY) announced today that they have been selected to provide well-being services, including related incentive programs, to Georgia's more than 650,000 state employees and dependents through the Department of Community Health's State Health Benefit Plan (SHBP).

Healthways was chosen after a lengthy competitive selection process and will assume responsibility for program management and delivery of services beginning on January 1, 2014. SHBP provides coverage for state employees, teachers, school system employees and retirees.

Within the RFA issued by the Department of Community Health, the SHBP was seeking specific experience and capabilities, including:

"a partner with proven experience in creating, administering, and customizing innovative statewide value-based wellness initiatives. SHBP is moving its current wellness programs to outcome/goal-based measurement and reporting of population health improvement and it seeks a partner with experience in, not only managing and incenting members to achieve their optimum health, but also definitively measuring such health improvements. As part of these initiatives, SHBP wellness partners will be expected to manage member incentives and disincentives for reaching goals and will be expected to move SHBP's entire health population (both standard and wellness members) to meet agreed upon targets."

In addition, the RFA issued by the Department of Community Health cited:

"The successful Wellness Partner will improve the Wellness of the SHBP membership through targeted initiatives designed to positively impact SHBP's annual strategic goals through 2016."

Healthways will be providing a variety of integrated services, collectively known as the Healthways Well-Being Improvement Solution, to the more than 650,000 eligible individuals. These services will include Healthways Well-Being Assessments™, the Well-Being Connect™ web-based personal behavior change application, wellbeingGO™ mobile application, biometric screenings, onsite program management and engagement marketing, health risk coaching, incentive management and wellness competitions and challenges.
