USMD Expands its Organization to Support Growing Needs of Communities and Patients
New Physicians Treat Patients from Babies to Baby Boomers, Many Accept Medicare
IRVING, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- USMD Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: USMD), a physician-led integrated healthcare system, announced today that six new physicians, including Sarah Kent, M.D., Charles Leach, M.D., Neepa Shah, M.D., Melanie Barron, D.O., Christopher Buchanan, M.D., and Heather Havener, M.D., have joined USMD Affiliates Services. These new physicians, who are located in communities throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, have been added to support the growing needs of the communities USMD serves.
Drs. Kent, Leach and Shah increase the number of USMD physicians currently serving seniors and accepting new Medicare patients to 78. Nationally, 10,000 baby boomers a day reach the age of 65. By 2030, it is anticipated that 18 percent of the nation will be 65 or older. USMD is positioning itself to better care for that age group with primary care physicians as well as specialists.
Dr. Buchanan brings the number of urologists affiliated with USMD to 49 and, with the addition of Dr. Barron, USMD now has 10 rheumatologists serving the DFW market. Dr. Havener will provide both obstetrics and gynecology services to the women of the Mansfield/Midlothian service area.

Dr. Sarah Kent specializes in family practice and will practice at the Cross Roads Clinic. Dr. Kent completed her residency in family medicine at University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria and received her medical degree at University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. Dr. Kent is accepting Medicare patients.
Dr. Charles Leach, who was a founding member of Medical Clinic of North Texas, specializes in internal medicine and is returning to USMD to practice at the Las Colinas and Desoto Clinics. Dr. Leach completed his residency in internal medicine at Baylor University Medical Center and received his medical degree at Louisiana State University Health Science Center School of Medicine. Dr. Leach is accepting Medicare patients.
Dr. Neepa Shah specializes in internal medicine and will practice at the Plano North Clinic. Dr. Shah completed her residency in internal medicine at University Hospitals of Cleveland and received her medical degree at The George Washington University School of Medicine. Dr. Shah is accepting Medicare patients.
Dr. Melanie Barron specializes in rheumatology and will practice at the Fort Worth Clinic. Dr. Barron completed her residency in internal medicine at Osteopathic Medical Center of Texas and received her medical degree at University of North Texas Health Science Center.
Dr. Christopher Buchanan specializes in urology and will practice at the Granbury Urology Clinic. Dr. Buchanan completed his residency in urology at University of Tennessee at Memphis and received his medical degree at University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas.
Dr. Heather Havener specializes in obstetrics and gynecology and will practice at the Mansfield Clinic. Dr. Havener completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and received her medical degree at Louisiana State University Health Science Center School of Medicine.
