Protecting the Future: Exelis highlights ethics, compliance, sustainability and community relations in latest corporate responsibility report

MCLEAN, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Exelis (NYS: XLS) today released its most recent corporate responsibility report, Protecting the Future. This year's report is the second one that Exelis has released since becoming an independent publicly traded company in 2011.

The report highlights Exelis commitment to positively impact business and civic communities through a strategic focus on governance and ethics; environmental sustainability; employees and the workplace; and citizenship and community.


"Our annual corporate responsibility report is an important benchmark we use to inform how we are progressing toward key company goals," said Exelis CEO and President David Melcher in the report. "We achieved many of the goals we set out to accomplish, and we will continue to build on corporate responsibility because it is an integral part of our business and is vital for the communities we serve."

In 2012, Exelis established a Diversity Council comprised of leaders across the company to focus on employee engagement, talent acquisition and learning and exceeded its goals of reducing waste production and consumption of energy and water by five percent. Exelis also launched the Exelis Action Corps, the company's signature employee volunteer program, which supports military service members, veterans and their families. Exelis also took the role as lead sponsor of the Points of Light Community Blueprint Initiative, which focuses on enhancing communities where veterans and their families live.
