Honda to Invest $215 Million More in Ohio Facilities

Honda Motor will invest an additional $215 million in its Ohio facilities, the company said today.

Honda will put $180 million into expanding its aluminum die casting and engine parts production for new engine technologies at its Anna, Ohio, engine plant. That money will also be used to establish a technical training center at the facility. Total investment at the Anna plant has been more than $500 million over the past three years, according to the company.

Near its Marysville, Ohio, auto manufacturing plant, the company plans to put another $35 million into the construction of a 160,000-square-foot building that will also house a technical training center, office space for Honda North America Services, and what it calls a heritage center.

The heritage center will be open to the public and will, according to Honda, "highlight the products and significant milestones in the history of Honda in North America, with an emphasis on the role of Honda operations in Ohio."

Honda's investments in Ohio over the past three years have totaled more than $1 billion.

The new Marysville facility is scheduled to open in the fall of 2014.
