Pentagon Awards Only $49 Million in Contracts Monday
Starting the week off slow, the U.S. Department of Defense announced only four new contracts Monday, worth a bare $49.2 million in aggregate value. Threepublicly traded companies (or companies owned by such) won contracts, namely:
ViaSat , which won a $21.7 million firm-fixed-price delivery to supply Multifunctional Information Distribution System-Low Volume Terminals -- i.e., secure radios -- to U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Army customers, as well as to international customers in Australia, Oman, and Thailand. ViaSat will work on this contract through July 31, 2015.
Data Link Solutions, a joint venture between Britain's BAE Systems and America's Rockwell Collins , which was awarded an $11.4 million firm-fixed-price delivery order for the same devices. Data Link's sets will be supplying U.S. armed forces, plus international buyers in Poland, Japan, Australia, UAE, and Saudi Arabia. Like ViaSat's contract, this one should wrap up by July 31, 2015.
ERAPSCO, a joint venture between Britain's Undersea Sensor Systems and America's Sparton , which won a $7.2 million option exercise to supply the U.S. Navy with 9,400 AN/SSQ-53F Sonobuoys for use in hunting submarines. Delivery is expected by April 2015.
