Apache (NYS: APA) reported earnings on Aug. 1. Here are the numbers you need to know.

EPS details
EPS came in at $2.01. The 26 earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ averaged $2.01 per share. Non-GAAP EPS of $2.01 for Q2 were 2.9% lower than the prior-year quarter's $2.07 per share. GAAP EPS of $2.54 for Q2 were 195% higher than the prior-year quarter's $0.86 per share.

Margin details
For the quarter, gross margin was 79.3%, 220 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 38.5%, 30 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 23.6%, much better than the prior-year quarter. (Margins calculated in GAAP terms.)
