University of Phoenix and Envision Healthcare Corporation Announce Collaboration and 2013 Scholarship Recipients

Scholarships offered to Envision Healthcare Corporation Employees

PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- University of Phoenix, a subsidiary of Apollo Group (NAS: APOL) , is proud to announce its continued educational collaboration with Envision Healthcare Corporation, formerly Emergency Medical Services Corporation, a leading provider of emergency medical services and physician-led, outsourced healthcare solutions. This collaboration has fostered the development of curriculum for the Emergency Management concentration of the Bachelor of Science in Health Administration degree at University of Phoenix.

The initial collaboration with Envision Healthcare was established in July 2009 as a way to improve the skills of employees who advance from staff level positions to supervisor, manager, and director levels through education. To that end, University of Phoenix has awarded five scholarships to deserving Envision Healthcare employees.

This year, Chelsia Baker, Jeffrey Begin, Jessica Florian, and Shawn Seewald were all awarded $7,500 scholarships. Aron Womack of Sacramento received a full-tuition scholarship.

Chelsia Baker: Dispatch Lead, Colorado Springs, CO (13 years, 3 months)

Jeffrey Begin: Operations Supervisor, Taunton, MA (17 years, 7 months)

Jessica Florian: Facilities Supervisor, Greenwood Village, CO (3 years)

Shawn Seewald: Manger of Business Integration, Greenwood Village, CO (3 years, 5 months)

Aron Womack: Account Executive, Sacramento, CA (3 years)

University of Phoenix has expanded opportunities for Envision Healthcare employees and others within the emergency management industry. University of Phoenix academic leaders worked closely with Envision Healthcare leaders to develop industry-relevant curriculum, case studies, and real-world learning opportunities for students and their employees within the Health Administration programs. The academic collaboration with Envision Healthcare influenced coursework and content focused on the principles of emergency management, emergency response operations, and planning and preparedness of emergency situations.

University of Phoenix also developed a virtual organization, "Taylor Ambulance Company," under the guidance of Envision Healthcare leadership to help employees and students bring theory to life, and craft a customized set of learning tools specifically designed to teach problem-solving skills necessary in the fast paced emergency medical services industry.
