Lifepoint Hospitals Meets on Revenues, Misses on EPS

EPS came in at $0.65. The 22 earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ forecast $0.71 per share. Non-GAAP EPS of $0.65 for Q2 were 22% lower than the prior-year quarter's $0.83 per share. GAAP EPS of $0.57 for Q2 were 31% lower than the prior-year quarter's $0.83 per share.

For the quarter, gross margin was 34.0%, 380 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 5.6%, 530 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 3.1%, 180 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. (Margins calculated in GAAP terms.)
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $1.07 billion. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $0.66.
