Granite Promotes Martin P. Matheson to Oversee California Operations
WATSONVILLE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Granite Construction Incorporated (NYS: GVA) today announced that Martin "Pete" Matheson has been named senior vice president and manager of its California operations, effective August 1, 2013. Matheson is a 22-year veteran with Granite.

Matheson most recently served as vice president for Granite's Washington Region and was instrumental throughout the company's acquisitions of both Superior Group and Wilder Construction Company. He joined Granite in 1989 as an estimator in the company's Reno, Nevada operations. From 1989 to 1997, he progressed through the ranks as a project superintendent, project manager and construction manager. Matheson left Granite briefly in 1997 and rejoined the company's Utah operations in 1999, serving in several management roles and helping to create one of Granite's most successful businesses.
In his new role, Matheson will have the responsibility of overseeing the bidding and building activities of Granite's vertically-integrated operations located throughout California. In addition, he will provide expertise and oversight in areas such as strategic planning, forecasting, estimating, safety, technology and quality.
