General Cable Appoints New Member to Board of Directors

Copper, aluminum, and fiber optic wire manufacturer General Cablehas chosen a new appointee for its Board of Directors. Sallie B. Bailey will act as an independent director until 2014, when she will stand for election at the company's annual meeting of stockholders.

Bailey will serve on the Board's Audit, Compensation and Corporate Governance committees. Her appointment increases the Company's Board to seven members.

George B. Kenny, General Cable's President and Chief Executive Officer, was quoted in the company press release this week as saying he looks forward to utilizing Bailey's "nearly twenty-five years of experience with global industrial and construction product companies" on the company's Board. "She has been involved in many acquisitions and has significant experience in Lean manufacturing, both of which are key components of our strategy."


Since 2011, Bailey has acted as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of engineered wood products manufacturer Louisiana-Pacific Corp. She has also served as Chief Financial Officer and Vice President for global specialty materials provider Ferro Corp., as well as holding senior management titles for the Timken Co.
