Alcoa Appoints New Communications Head
Libby Archell Rejoins Alcoa as VP of Corporate Affairs
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Alcoa (NYS: AA) announces that effective September 1 Libby Archell is appointed Vice President of Corporate Affairs. Reporting to Klaus Kleinfeld, Alcoa Chairman and CEO, Ms. Archell will be a member of Alcoa's Executive Council and have responsibility for communications activities that impact Alcoa's reputation, relationships with the media and employee engagement.

"With her successful track record in challenging assignments in Australia and the U.S., Libby has the ideal background and skills to take on this vital communications role at an important moment in Alcoa's 125th history," said Mr. Kleinfeld. Ms. Archell succeeds Nick Ashooh, who is resigning from Alcoa to pursue another opportunity. In thanking Mr. Ashooh for his service, Mr. Kleinfeld said, "We appreciate Nick's contributions to Alcoa, and wish him well in his future endeavors."
Ms. Archell is currently director of corporate communications at Hewlett-Packard. Prior to her departure from Alcoa in December 2012, Libby was director of corporate affairs, managing Alcoa's global media relations and financial and crisis communications. She joined Alcoa in 2005 as a communications advisor in Perth, Western Australia and later served as head of communications and employee engagement at the Alcoa Foundation in New York.
Before joining Alcoa, Ms. Archell consulted on media relations and crisis communication to major resource companies. She started her career in government relations in the NGO sector and also was a speechwriter for Australian state government officials. In 2012, she was named to the prestigious Australian-American Young Leadership Dialogue. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Australia.
Ms. Archell will be based at Alcoa's headquarters in New York City.
